Beautifully remodeled stone hamlet
Charming house! Was a great place to stay and explore Luberon.
Beautiful house and décor in a great location.
Lovely house and décor, very clean, lovely pool and in a great location. There were pre-existing issues with the plumbing and sanitary ware which were resolved very quickly, but there still remains an issue with a very temperamental toilet flush that needs to be permanently addressed. Some other small niggles would be that the kitchen is very small but workable, but there is no oven as stated on the property details, only a combination microwave/oven. The gas hob has two burners which are only large enough for two small pans which is restrictive. More than one set of keys would be useful, to allow the external annexe guests to gain entry into the house. The annexe bedroom is charming but there is only a curtain separating it from the en-suite bathroom. A door would be better. A change of bed linen is provided which we changed midway through our stay. We washed towels as there were no spares. When we have been to other HomeAway properties a cleaner normally comes in after one week to clean and change linen and towels. We were surprised that this was not the case here. Some detailed instructions of kitchen equipment, the pool, air-con etc would be handy, plus good directions of how to locate the property.
A beautiful house with a delightful pool and gardens
I spent a very relaxing week in this lovely house which is an ideal base for exploring the Luberon.
Wonderful little French-chique cottage
All that was missing on our 7 day trip to Provence was the sunshine !
The cottage was perfect for us, being a party of 3, as it was just big enough to relax in after a day exploring the stunning Luberon, but not too small that you felt in each others way. In the pool was a switch to increase the flow, so you can swim against the resistance so the size doesn't matter as you can swim for hours and not go anywhere !
The pictures didn't do the property justice - it was so much nicer.
If you like traditional French-chique mixed with contemporary touches her and there - especially the modern colourful art on most of the walls - then, like us, you will fall in love
with this little jewel in the crown of Provence.
The kitchen was tiny, but who wants to be cooking 3 course meals when you have the most wonderful restaurants and bijoux cafes on your doorstep? It was certainly enough for cooking a traditional English breakfast and preparing light lunches and tapas.
Everything was immaculately clean, lovely quality bedlinen and all was perfectly presented like a 5 * Boutique Hotel and we immediately felt at home.
Benedicte, the owner was lovely and her suggestions for visiting certain areas and restaurants really did help us get it right first time, so we didn't waste any of our precious days.
Our very last day, the sun came out, so we spent the whole day in and around the pool in the fantastic walled garden - had a barbecue and a few of the lovely bottles of rose wine from Chateau Lacoste ( one of Benedicte's 5 star recommendations and a must to visit) - yes, we got a little sun burned - but it was a perfect way to end a great few days. We have only scraped the surface of this area, so we have to return next year for another adventure and we just couldn't stay anywhere else ...!
DIVINE ESCAPE TO PROVENCE
We recently stayed in this beautifully restored and decorated cottage and had a fantastic time travelling throughout Provence visiting all the little hilltop villages that make this area of France so special. This home is located in a little hamlet of other homes and is extremely quiet and idyllic, perfect for relaxation.
The home is within walking distance to Joucas (20mins) and a short drive (5 minutes) or 1 hour hike up to Gordes.
Benedicte greeted us warmly, and made a reservation for our first dinner which was very helpful. Her communication throughout was easy and friendly. Our contract was in French and we were unable to read it but found everything she told us regarding extra power charges etc to be honest and clear. We had 4 adults for a week using sporadic air con and washer/dryer with no extra charges applied.
Her recommendations for restaurants in the neighbouring villages were excellent.
The house is cosy and well appointed, decorated beautifully in French style and the garden is just as amazing.
A few things to consider about the house are that the second bedroom is reached by going outside and underneath the home. It is very nice and private, perfect for 2 couples as you have you own space but may not suit if you need to keep an eye on children near the pool or at night as they are sleeping. Perhaps Benedict does not rent to families with children for this reason.
The kitchen is small but has everything you need except an oven. This didn't worry us as we ate out every night. We appreciated the Nespresso machine and brought our own pods from home. We found a great Nespresso store in Avignon to restock.
The Super U supermarkets nearby are excellent and a must see is market day in Gordes. Go right up through town and park at the very top, arriving around 8.30 will have you missing the crowds that come later in the morning. The fresh produce, meats and cheeses are highly recommended!
Our favourite villages of Gordes, Rousillon and Menerbes were easily reached by car.
For a day out we recommend heading up to Mont Ventoux, the views are fantastic, coming back via Sault for lavender fields and Rustrel for an ochre cliff walk.
It is worth noting that the wifi and mobile coverage is not great so that may affect some people, it's the countryside so not surprising, Benedicte has boosters etc to do her best to provide access.
We found great wifi at the Super U in L'Isle sur la Sorgue if you need it.
Thank you Benedicte for a fantastic stay!
Completely enjoyable, relaxing and perfectly situated home for our week in Provence!
We stayed with our 20-yr old daughter in this wonderful stone home, very well-situated between Gordes, Joucas and Roussillon in Provence for seven days last month. The home was perfectly Provencal in every way, with a great sun room, pool, and garden area for eating and relaxing. There is airconditioning, dishwasher, laundry and all the comforts of home, while still being in the Provencal style. It is a very short 5 minute drive to Gordes, and the owner was spot-on with all her recommendations for visits, shopping, groceries, butcher, bakery, etc. It is also very conveniently located for almost all of the other wonderful sights of Provence, as it is less than an hour to Aix, Arles, Avignon, etc. The day market in Gordes itself is great, but it is also very easy to get to any of the other day markets in villages 30-45 minutes away. The home is not right in town, so there are vineyards, farms, lavender and sunflowers essentially right outside your door. We would rent this home again ourselves absolutely, and will be recommending it to anyone wishing to get a true Provencal experience of living in this very fun area.
