About Emelie & Owen Lima
We are a South African-Swedish couple who love travelling and visiting new places (especially hot and sunny ones). In 2005 we somehow found ourselves living in not-so-sunny, but spectacularly beautiful Scotland, where the idea of combining our passion for property and travel started to materialise. In 2012 we finally took the plunge, bought our first investment flat and spent several months giving it a complete makeover. Three years later we relocated to Cape Town, South Africa (permanently beautiful weather!), and handed over the running of the apartment to Owen's mum, Linda.

Why Emelie & Owen Lima chose Old Town
Call us biased, but we think this is the PERFECT location to explore Edinburgh (if in doubt, have a look at the list of what's available within 10 minutes' walking distance!).
What makes this Apartment unique
We love the view from the roof and the character of the flat, with its high ceilings, bay windows and even an old-fashioned clothes pulley. The layout is also really great and works well for three or four guests, since all rooms are accessed from the hallway, so there's no walking through each other's rooms to get to the bathroom or kitchen.

Perfect New Year's Stay
We had a blast staying at this flat. The hosts were incredible to communicate with and they were super helpful to let us in early. The location was literally right next to the castle and right around the corner from The Hanging Cat if you like great craft beer. The flat itself was very comfortable and I would stay there again in a heartbeat if I make it back to Edinburgh!
Great calll home
The apartment was perfect for us and in an excellent location to everything. In the city .. lots of great walks and so many things close by. Grocery store across the street, neighbourhood pub two steps, away and grass market a 5 minute walk.
We would stay again and recommend to friends and family!
Thanks Emelie and thanks to Campbell for a omforting welcome!

Great stay on Bread Street
Amazing value for money!
Really nice apartment.
So many positives won’t bother to list them all.
Negatives: Curtains wouldn’t close in lounge so too bright to sleep. blind wouldn’t open in bedroom so too dark to get ready. shower very very weak. everything else amazing!
Great apartment, perfect for our needs, in a great location for the castle, grass market and the hop on hop off buses. Lovely warm welcome from Linda and great communication with Emilie
Thanks Rebecca, we appreciate the review and are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay!
Nice Little Apartment close to Old Town
Firstly, whilst there were a couple of issues for us personally, just want to say that this is a lovely, modern, immaculate little apartment in a very convenient position about 10 min walk to the centre of the old town. Apartment is well equipped, very comfortable bed and warm and cosy. It's on the third floor of an old, characterful building with a fabulous communal roof terrace (we didn't use it as it was raining but I can imagine in summer, it'd be an amazing space with great views to the castle). There is a 'however' … it's unfortunately really noisy on a night. There is a lap dancing club across the road and on each evening of our 3 night stay, there were groups of lads stood outside smoking and talking really loudly (on and off) until early hours. Whilst the area in itself is fine and I felt safe walking around on a night, it's the noisy groups of lads that were the issue for us which is a shame as it is the only thing that let it down for us. If the apartment had decent sound-proof windows it wouldn't be an issue at all but the windows are the old style sash ones and they don't block any street noise. We did have a small issue with our check in process in that we'd been given old mobile phone numbers which were no longer in use so we were stood out on the street (panicking) for a while before we could get into the apartment. Just check with the owner that you have been given up to date information.
That said, I would recommend. For a young couple or young group of friends, it's a great location with a fabulous choice of lovely cafes and bars on your doorstep and within within a short distance of Grassmarket which leads up to the old town. So if you don't mind the street noise, it's a good option and you'll enjoy your stay.
Thank you so much for the detailed review. "Lovely, immaculate, warm and cosy" is music to our hosting ears! The central location does mean there is some street noise at times, in spite of the secondary glazing in the bedroom. Because the flat is in a conservation area, we are not allowed to install modern windows. We apologise for the hiccup with the telephone number and reassure future guests that this was immediately rectified.
Wonderful little place in the heart of Edinburgh!
We had a great time at Own and Emelie's apartment in Edinburgh. Linda, their mother, met us to check-in and she was great! The apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay and the location cannot be beat. The only tiny downside is that, because it's so close to the action, it can be quite loud at night. If you're a light sleeper and your goal is to sleep long and sleep well on vacation, this may not be the place for you - that said, even though we didn't get as much sleep as we might have wanted, it was an awesome place and we would absolutely stay there again!
Thanks Vanessa for the glowing review. Linda was very happy to get a special mention ;-) You're welcome back any time!
