About Mrs Moyreen Tilbrook
We have lived for many years in Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong. Asia has proved a fascinating destination for many of our travels.
Mrs Moyreen Tilbrook purchased this House in 1967
Why Mrs Moyreen Tilbrook chose Rye
This Grade 2 listed house has been a constant source of interest and delight. We continue to learn about former residents - back to 1680 so far - and to welcome friends and family to a home which we feel privileged to occupy for a short time in its long history. We have much pleasure in inviting you to share this experience with us.
What makes this House unique
A truly medieval environment in the very special town of Rye with its fishing fleet and yachting berths. A home from home with all the comforts. An excellent range of small shops for gifts to suit a vast range of tastes: pottery, paintings, books old and new, leather, antiques of every description, glass, specialist kitchen ware, furniture, clothing, shoes.

Staying anywhere else would be a mistake!
If you are visiting Rye to experience it’s unique and wonderful history, then there is really no reason to stay anywhere else than here. Truly, truly perfect!
So glad you enjoyed your stay and your time in the house. Rye truly is a remarkable place.

All That Jazz in Rye
Delightful, quaint house ideally situated in Mermaid Street and opposite the Mermaid. The garden with the mulberry tree is a green oasis on a hot summer afternoon.
We are all back home wonderfully refreshed after a long weekend to remember. We stepped into Robin Hill and were immediately immersed in the history of place and the dramatic
The house was comfortable, spacious and well equipped and the garden delightful. We loved ancient Mermaid Street, so central and within easy reach of everything in Rye. You do have to get used to driving, loading and unloading in narrow streets. We found it easier to park the car near the station than use the allotted garage.
Prime location and beautiful home
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moyreens house. It truly is a gem! The children loved playing in the garden and there was ample space for our whole lot- thank you for opening your home to us!
Amazing house, wonderful host
We rented the house for a surprise birthday party and it was perfect. Very spacious, everyone got an actual bed. Great dining room table for dinners together, lots of sitting room space. Wish it had been a tiny bit warmer then we would have sat in the beautiful garden! Moyreen was a fantastic responsive host and generously allowed us to amend our booking when two of our party dropped out. Sorry we used so many towels! It hailed when we went to the beach! Stunning house, in a stunning town. Highly recommend, although you may end up spending more time in the lovely house than wandering the cobbled streets like we did. Great for large families or groups.
Rye is located between Hastings and Folkestone and is a mile and a half from the coast. From London Rye can be reached either via M20/A2070/A259 through Ashford or via M25/A21/A268 through Hawkhurst. Historically known as '1066 country' the surrounding area provides the visitor with an abundance of castles, abbeys, fortresses, National Trust gardens and houses, and museums. The coastal area is noted for its flora and fauna including a wildlife bird sanctuary: marshland stretches eastwards, a haven for smugglers in bygone days, and the haunting seascape of Dungeness is a habitat for a wide variety of unusual plants and dominated by two lighthouses; to the west stretch the unspoilt beach of Winchelsea and the cliffs of Fairlight Country Park.
