About this property

Charming and Chic near UNCSA and Downtown Winston-Salem

This delightful, single story, private 3bed/1bath cottage, built in 1942, with lovely stylish interior, comprising two large, and one small bedrooms, was newly renovated, and freshly painted throughout in 2018. As with my other homes, this charming cottage, on a quiet residential street, is minutes from UNCSA and Downtown, and easily walkable to Old Salem and Cobblestone farmers’ market in addition to excellent restaurants and coffee shops, and extensive parks and greenways.

Strict Covid-19 cleaning and disinfecting protocol followed.
Lockbox allows for flexible, no contact, check in.

This attractive, stylish air conditioned home contains three bedrooms, two with comfortable, plush queen beds, large closets, dressers, full length mirrors, and seating. Adjoining the gorgeous cool, comfortable master bedroom, with its remote control ceiling fan, is a cute boudoir with a deliciously cozy chaise, the perfect spot to relax with your favorite book. The third small bedroom/study accommodates a twin (single) sleeper-bed, closet, and an ample work desk and therefore doubles as an excellent home office. The gorgeous, bright, tiled bathroom boasts a large glass enclosed refreshing rainfall shower, spacious vanity, and mirrored in wall cabinet. A fully fitted kitchen with modern new cabinets, farmhouse sink and lustrous granite countertops is equipped with brand new stainless steel appliances including a super quiet Bosch dishwasher, ceramic top electric stove, microwave and refrigerator/freezer. The adorable dining area adjacent to the kitchen comfortably seats five, and will accommodate up to six using additional seating to be found throughout the house. Also adjacent to the kitchen is a charming coffee nook, and laundry facilities with back door leading to a spacious deck with table, chairs and parasol. A charcoal grill is also available during the summer months. The deck leads down to a fully privacy fenced rear yard screened by mature trees, perfect for your furry friend.
Comfortable, attractive seating in the stylish living room is coupled with a 56” flat screen Smart HDTV, which is Netflix and Amazon enabled. YouTubeTV, to which the host subscribes, offers 90+ channels, and the home is provided with super fast, reliable Wifi. A remote control ceiling fan, eclectic floor and table lamps, and thoughtfully chosen artwork complete the warm ambience. Modern double pane sash windows, most fitted with screens, are equipped with cordless blinds, and the flooring comprises antique wood, vinyl and tile. Original doors, and hardware are to be found throughout this attractive cottage.
Free on street parking is readily available in front of the house on this quiet residential side street.
A Graco Pack n Play crib, crib mattress, and highchair should be available if requested.
My other lovely property, “Adorable, Stylish” (2B/2B) is a 3 minute walk from this house, and my other home, “Stylish, Comfortable” (2B/1.5B) is within half a mile, which might make two or more of these rentals an ideal arrangement for larger groups.
I am happy to be able to share my house with guests who like to travel with their dogs, the back yard being very securely fenced even for little dogs. Up to two small (under 20 lbs) well-behaved, house trained, non-shedding canines over 9 months will be welcome. Pet fee is $50 + tax per stay. Please ask.

Guest access

This rental is totally private, and can be accessed via a lockbox which will hold two front door keys. Ample free on street parking is available.

Interaction with guests

Access to the home will be via a lockbox, and I am a hands off host, which means we may not meet. You will, however, experience the warmth of my welcome on entering my home, and I live within minutes of your rental should there be any queries or concerns.

Other things to note

Guests should park on the street directly in front of the house whenever possible so as not to impact neighbors' parking spots, and please be sure not to block neighbors' driveways.
The yard is regularly mowed and tidied, which may occur during your stay, but will not require any interaction with the guest.
Please also note that there is no tub on the property - the bathroom is equipped with a beautiful rainfall shower.
Dogs welcome! Up to two small (under 20 lbs) well-behaved, house trained, non-shedding canines over 9 months. The yard is securely fenced for even tiny dogs, and there are dog dishes and poop bags for your use. $50 + tax per stay. Sorry, no cats.
There are no childproof catches on the kitchen cabinets. Guests are responsible for the safety of their children.
In late summer the Black Walnut tree on the adjacent property will drop its nuts, some of which may fall on the back deck.

Cute House in Winston-Salem
This house very clean and had everything we needed and was in a good location. We felt safe in the neighborhood and walked to the historic Old Salem one day. That was a lot of fun. In addition, we did many other things. One of our favorites was going to the old time Mast stores. With our traveling the area, we ended up going to at least four of their stores. The one downtown was among other little shops and bakeries. If we come back to Winston-Salem, we would stay here again.

Great place
Excellent choice for our preferences (old neighborhood with house that retains much charm from original days). Tasteful blend of traditional and updated features. All amenities are included. Downtown skyline is visible from the back deck. Very quiet, no traffic noise or loud neighbors. Patricia is the excellent host.

The house was great!
I could tell that Patricia ( the owner) has put a great deal of thought and love into this house. It had everything we needed to stay for 8 days and more. Nicely decorated with every amentity, plenty of towels and warm and friendly home. We were in town for High Point Market, working the show and this house was perfect for our long term stay. Thank you Patricia!!!

Just perfect
Adorable, clean, well-cared-for home. We booked at the last minute and Patricia couldn't have been more welcome or easy to work with. I can't say enough good things about our time at this property. Would definitely stay there again!

I am originally from the UK, but have now made Winston-Salem my home where I find all the things I most enjoy: history in Old Salem (which reminds me of an English country village), the arts - great theaters, galleries, UNCSA and Reynolda House; excellent restaurants and bakeries catering for all tastes; wonderful trees and flowers and scenic countryside; super friendly people; trips to wineries, state parks, and easy road trips further afield to the coast or other cities and states. I hope you will enjoy staying in my beautiful house ... I have tried to think of all that I would like to find in a vacation rental. I live in West Salem and thoroughly enjoy the area, walking my dogs in Old Salem and Washington Park, making my way downtown on the lovely, shady Strollway, enjoying the arts at UNCSA, and visiting all the nearby coffee shops and restaurants.

Why they chose this property

I already had one house on this nice quiet, residential street, and this cute cottage was crying out for my TLC and vision to make it the beautiful home it now is. I love the proximity this area has to so much of what Winston-Salem has to offer together with the abundant green spaces which make walking in the area such a treat.

What makes this property unique

I love the convenient floorplan of this pretty home, and the pretty doors with their original hardware. There is a sweet little nook which would have been for a telephone back in the day ... it is small features like that which make this home so attractive.
