About Dylyn Riley Dalton
Cheers! That's me Dylyn, in the picture. I manage the villa which is co-owned by me and other members of my family. Some extended family members who live in St Lucia look after the villa and our guests. My husband (a retired lawyer) and I (retired PA) reside in London, United Kingdom. I love travel, adore entertaining, and strive to be content and happy for myself and for my loved ones.
Dylyn Riley Dalton purchased this Villa in 1996
Why Dylyn Riley Dalton chose Castries City
Because the town of Castries was where I was brought up and the villa overlooks this exciting city. Also, the villa is unique! It's the only holiday home I know of on the island, situated in a real St Lucian community where most of the residents happen to be old friends and tight-knit extended relatives. The beautiful Villa Frangipani stands amongst the homes of my lovely kinsfolk, always willing and happy to help each other and our guests. So here on holiday you not only have sun, sea and sand, but you get that extra buzz - a fascinating glimpse into the culture of St Lucia's wonderful people!
What makes this Villa unique
Staying at this gorgeous, wheel-chair friendly villa with probably the most stunning views on the island means that you can bring your family and friends to the best value-for-money holiday home in the entire Caribbean and you won't break the bank! And for wheel-chair users there is a ramp to the entrance, wide doors and corridors, grab-bars and easy to use showers. The villa is central to most places on the island from which you can easily travel to all other destinations either by public transport or by your own hired vehicle. Many guests say that our fantastic panoramic views could have them spending their entire vacation (armed with a cocktail or three) on our spacious veranda. And for me, my husband and family, we all adore our villa Frangipani and think it is the most beautiful place in the world.

We stayed one week and I highly recommend it. The information newsletter from Dylyn was very helpful. I also would recommend having Julie cook you a meal, it was delicious ! There is a convenient store within walking distance if you run out of toilet paper, bottled water or other necessities.
And what to say more about the view...simply WOW!!!
The only advice I would give ( and has nothing to do with the Villa) is to bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. There are many dogs in the neighborhood and they barked at all hours of the night. I also regretted not bringing my binoculars as it is a great place for bird watching as well.
All in all, I highly recommend Villa Frangipani !
Jeff & family
Our managers have said that Jeff Meyers and his family were a pleasure to host. Dogs in the tropics generally live out of doors and tend to socialise in the cool of the night when they can be noisy, especially around full moon which coincided with Jeff's stay! Sorry about this but I am so glad that he enjoyed everything else, especially one of the most stunning holiday-home views on the island.
Property was neat and clean when we arrived. Introduced by manager who was always there when needed. The view from top of the property was amazing. A little far from the actual city centre for us as we were there for Carnival so ended up spending more on travel than intended. however that was due to us not looking at the map well enough. Other than that Villa was great.
The villa Frangipani is just 1 mile (as the crow flies) from the centre of town where our annual carnival festival takes place. Previous guests have never complained about the distance into town, when bus fares are so cheap. Nevertheless, I have received a very good report regarding these guests from the manager of my villa in St Lucia. Jeff and his party were nice people, fun-loving, and they left the place in a tidy condition.
Beautiful Villa Frangipani: lovely house, gorgeous views
Villa Frangipani was one of the highlights of your 3-week holiday in the Caribbean (Martinique and St. Lucia). The house itself is beautiful and very attractively designed and laid out and the verandah, with its loungers and rocking chairs, is a delight. It’s also cool and airy, and although fans are provided we didn’t need to use them.
The views are fabulous at all hours of the day, and the sunsets are spectacular.
Another plus point is that the furniture and crockery etc. are also attractive: not an afterthought, as in some holiday rentals. You feel as if you're a guest in a real home, which is very nice.
Dylyn, the owner, sent us a helpful newsletter before we arrived, with lots of tips about places to see and things to do in St Lucia, and some useful local contacts. For example, Julie, the villa's joint manager, who also cooked us a wonderful meal; and Paulie, a super-helpful and friendly driver who took us on a tour of local beaches. In the end we opted for Vigie beach: it's nearby and never too full, and great for long walks at the water's edge. We did hire a car, which we found indispensable for shopping and getting to and from the beach. I felt a real sense of accomplishment once I finally plucked up the courage to drive down to Soufriere, where we spent a few days, as my husband had been doing all the driving up till then.
There's a well-equipped utility room in the Villa with a line for drying clothes, but an additional line or clothes horse would be helpful, for beach towels etc.
Our one regret is that we didn't stay longer - we were only there for 6 days. We'd love to go back and stay for a couple of weeks to really enjoy this beautiful home to the full.
Thank you, Dylyn and all your great team!
Honest and truthful about our beloved villa Frangipani, these guests make me happy that they had a good time staying there.
Perhaps they had not noticed (or read our Newsletter) that there is a special area for drying clothes out of doors, which is situated on the level below the villa. You get to it via steps to the left of the building. But this is a very minor point. This nice family will be welcome to stay at the villa Frangipani at any time in the future.
We had a fantastic two weeks at the Villa.
Frangipani is a fantastic Villa with lots of natural breeze blowing through. We stayed there for my Daughters wedding. The ceremony was held on the balcony with fabulous views of Vigie Beach and the Castries Harbour in the background.A sunset to die for as we dined for the reception, one can only say but it has to be experienced to enjoy the full beauty. Thank you Dylyn we had a blast
Thanks for this really lovely review of the villa Frangipani.
We're so happy that your daughter's wedding reception was such a happy occasion and we look forward to you spending time in the villa again.
Sunsets, rainbows, and the view!
My husband Nic and I had a wonderful 2 week stay at Villa Frangipani. We loved that the house was located in a local neighborhood with friendly, helpful people. The openness of the house allowed for wonderful breezes. We enjoyed exploring the island in our rental car and hired Paulie to drive us to the Jump-ups (a street party with great food) on Friday nights. He's a gem and very responsible.
We absolutely loved the large, comfortable porch and spent most of our time enjoying the view, listening to the sounds, and watching the beautiful sunsets! After a rain, we would see large, colorful rainbows, really magical! We ate delicious local food, even buying freshly caught Mahi from local fisherman. On our first night, Julie cooked a delicious traditional caribbean meal for us, served with Hidden's tasty rum punch!! We were fortunate that the owners, Dylyn and Chris were visiting from London. Delightful people we enjoyed spending time with. A great experience on St. Lucia at the Villa Frangipani!!
I apologise for my poor English, but I would like to say that the twelve days we spent in Saint Lucia, at the villa Frangipani, were beyond our dreams.
Forget Rodney Bay, you can find such touristic places everywhere, but you wouldn't find another villa Frangipani. It is located in a pleasant neighbourhood, with nice people around to help you if you need it. Hidden and his wife Julie are just great and... good cooks too. And Paulie is a gentleman I regret not having known better.
A breathetaking view from the veranda, singing birds on the trees all around, reggae and calypso instead of alarm clocks and an island with fascinating historic background.
of course there are beaches, and in Saint Lucia they are wonderful, but why not, also, talking to the beautiful people of Saint Lucia ? They have plenty to say about life, economic issues, richness and poverty. About the use of chemicals in agriculture, about the place of the Caribbeans islands in the world.
And about music and parties. Saint Lucia is a musical island and villa Frangipani the most wonderful score of the Caribbeans.
I understand your English perfectly Bernard! The villa Frangipani is my big love and you've made my heart sing with your comments. It is true that there are many places for tourists to stay - some very luxurious too - but there is only one villa Frangipani of its kind in St Lucia. The people in the community are generous and kind, many of them (including my managers) are my own extended family, so there is no shortage of thoughtful attention to my guests.
I have sent a copy of your review to Paulie, my driver, as I'm sure he will be pleased to read it.
Not just a sea view - our spectacular, panoramic views will knock your socks off! We overlook the city and surrounding hills, harbour mouth, beach, small airport, the Vigie peninsula, several bays and inlets forged by the Caribbean sea, and there's the island of Martinique whilst doing the washing up! Situated in the heart of a semi-rural neighbourhood, members of the community are mostly related and have a sense of responsibility to each other. This caring hospitality is extended to Frangipani guests but there is no intrusion on privacy. Far from the madding crowd but within easy reach of restaurants, clubs and shopping, the villa is just 1 mile to the centre of town, also 1 mile to the local beach - a 20-30 minute walk if you're reasonably fit, or a very short transport journey through the most picturesque landscapes of eastern Castries. Not absolutely necessary to hire a car, little 12-seater public transport buses are loads of fun and the bus stop is just yards from the villa.
Other Activities: helicopter sight-seeing
Golf: St. Lucia Golf & Country Club is about 5 miles from the villa Frangipani. It is open all the year round and features the only 18-hole golf course on the island. Located on Cap Estate, this course is set in green rolling hills with a stunning panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean and the sapphire waters of the Caribbean sea.
