Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Great Room + large kitchen, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)
Mark and I (Libby) have been making our family vacation home available to the public when our family does not use it which seems too often these days. We have one child - Nicholas - a dog and cat. One of our favorite things to do is hiking - the state park is only 5 miles away and has some great trails. Of course eating and shopping in quaint downtown are much fun. We love having guests visit our cabin and have convenient methods for checking in and paying rental fees.
Libby purchased this Cabin in 1980
Why Libby chose Guntersville
Guntersville is a neighboring city to our hometown, Albertville. Almost all water and surrounded by the foothills of the Appalacians, it must be one of America's best kept secrets - sleepy but absolutely breathtaking.
What makes this Cabin unique
The views are amazing here. The cabin is on a mountain side sort of and the upper floors are especially good for viewing the water and mountains. The boathouse with free boatslip is still only 50 feet away.) This place is all about outdoor life with water sports, cooking out, and general fun with friends and family.

Polecat Place Stay
We stayed at Polecat Place, Middle floor from May 24 - 27, 2019. The main word I can use about the stay is that the listing is misleading. With any lake place, we weren't expecting the Ritz-Carlton, but we were expecting a place with quality and usable modern conveniences. The main issue was the lack of central air. There was 1 wall air conditioning unit in the family room and that was it. With it being summertime, that only cooled the family room. We could not sleep in the bedrooms, nor did the bathroom have any air for circulation. There were fans in each room, but circulating super hot air doesn't do the trick in Alabama. The refrigerator was sub-standard in that it didn't keep items cold. We kept drinks in there (that were cold when we put then in) and used coolers with ice for all food because it would have spoiled. The fridge also had a leak where we had to use towels so we wouldn't slip on the floor. We did not plan on cooking there, but would not have because the pots, pans, plates, etc. were in horrible condition - easy fix. The shower door came off the track falling into the shower several times and was dangerous - easy fix. The dock was in bad shape, not only was the boathouse falling down, the dock barely had anywhere to tie up our boat. It also had maybe never been sealed, had nails sticking up and was too hot to even walk on. I can't imagine how much maintenance it takes to keep up a 3 story lake place with dock and boathouse, however I feel like with some maintenance taken from the rental amounts could fix a lot of the outside (pressure washing) and fix the issues inside. The location of the house was great. It was easy to get to by road and by boat. Libby was great to work with - just frustrated overall by the condition of the rental. We basically rented a studio apartment with a bathroom for 3 days. If this place was updated, had air in all rooms (not fans), etc. - it would be a nice place.
Spring Break on the Lake
Very friendly host. Great parking. Clean, spacious accommodations. Well insulated from noise from adjacent floors. Dock and boathouse were great. Would stay again.
The cabin has a great view of the lake. I would recommend this cabin.
I would recommend this cabin.
Quaint lodging snuggled in the trees and still right on the lake
We enjoyed our stay and plan to be back. The location is great snuggled in the trees and still on the beautiful lake. Easy access to restaurants and grocery stores.
Cozy place next to the water!
Nice place if your looking for a less expensive get away option. Beware this is three rentals in one and parking may become scarce.
Nice peaceful place to stay close enough to many beautiful and fun attractions
My four kids and I stayed on the second flour of this nice riverside house. It isn't brand new place, but it was clean and had everything we needed in each room to survive for two days.
The owner is very friendly, she told us how to get to places we wanted to visit. Beds were comfortable, but I really missed my pillow...My girls had theirs, so they have nothing to complain about, except for loud birds choir in the morning ! My boys were happy to play basketball on the playground in 5 min walking distance. Little steep driveway in the rear with roomy space to park a car. You can go shopping, dining, hiking, swimming, fishing, boating, zip-lining, cave exploring, sun-set catching all in a range of 30 min of drive!
Located approximately 1 mile from downtown Guntersville with lots of great shopping and restaurants. Salvage shopping our favorite. Don't forget to hike or ZIP at the nearby State Park, Water sports are the best right at the cabin!
