A piece of Paradise
We stayed in the cottage from September 15 to 21 /2019. It is a charming house, and everything you can imagine is there.
The warm welcome from Michael upon arrival we immediately felt home. Michael was also extremely helpful in pointing out the great spots on the River for my husband's fly fishing adventures, a man of incredible knowledge of the area as well interesting stories of the past.
The house lacks nothing , a comfortable spot where we would not hesitate another visit anytime. The description of the house is totally true and an awesome beautiful place to spend time in, just like home..
Clean, comfortable, reasonable price, very well provisioned, great location (close to Cabot golf courses, grocery store, etc.), very friendly and accommodating owner. In short, an excellent deal.
A lovely stay in Margaree Valley
A beautiful house and a perfect place to stay with every convenience (and more so) for visitors. The surroundings are exquisite. The house is situated in a lovely meadow which leads down to the Margaree River. The host, Michael, was gracious and very accommodating and made us feel at home. We would like to mention that during a thunderstorm, when there was a power outage in the area, Michael responded immediately, bringing us flashlights and candles, and saw to it that everything was all right. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and can unreservedly recommend the place.
Me my wife and two girls (8 and 12 year old) made this the destination for our summer trip this year, coming with us is my wife's father and mother so bedrooms and bathrooms were a very important feature for us. This home delivered on both enough space for everyone and plenty of comfortably spaces to hang out. the kitchen was very well equipped and provided enough table space for the entire family to eat. We could also eat out on the porch with wonderful views of the river and surrounding hills. there was a lot of local information pamphlets there and Michael also gave us some good local advise.
overall it was a great visit to Cape Breton and we would highly recommend this home!
Great house with an amazing location on the Margaree river
This is a really nice house that comfortably accommodated our family of 7. Michael was a great host who was always available to help and made sure we had everything we needed. The location was just perfect for our stay since it was centrally located between many attractions such as the Highland National Park, the beach at Margaree Harbour, The Dancing Goat and Baddeck. The property is right on a beautiful section of the famous Margaree river. This is definitely a house I would stay at the next time we visit Cape Breton.
When my husband offered to treat me and our family to a week on Cape Breton at his usual "fishing cabin," I must admit I was a bit apprehensive...but, wow! The Margaree River Guest House is probably one of the nicest places I have ever stayed! The decor is stunning--each room filled with plants, artwork, knicknacks, etc.--every day I seemed to see something I hadn't noticed before. The kitchen is stocked with any appliance or tool you would ever need. The entire house is that way...there's even a washer and dryer in the basement for your use! The breakfast nook is charming. The entire house was immaculate, and all bathrooms and the kitchen were spotless. We spent a great deal of our time enjoying the beautiful outdoor deck, which spans the entire back of the house and overlooks the valley. The backyard grounds are beautifully kept, and the walk to the river is easy. Whether you are a salmon fisherperson or not, the area at streamside is quite accommodating, too, with benches, chairs, and even a small shelter should you need to get out of the rain. The "homey" feel of the house and the extremely warm hospitality of the hosts truly made our stay a memorable one. I encourage you to visit Cape Breton and experience the magic of the Margaree River Guest House. Chris Boezeman
Designated as the top island in North America to visit, this is the perfect vacation home from which to explore the unspoiled and protected wilderness and rocky bluffs on one of the world's most scenic drives. At home, in the Margarees, either fish for salmon or trout, bathe in the warm waters of the Gulf stream ocean, or just relax. The Celtic and Acadian music and hospitality will warm your heart. The fresh lobster & crab dinners will nourish your body and the countless magical moments during fossil hunting or beachcombing or just puttering about will allow your spirit to soar with the eagles.
Other Activities: live harness racing, ocean fishing & cruises, celtic music, eagle spotting, fossil hunting
