About Custer State Park, LLC
My husband and I have been married for 41 years. Now, as empty nesters, we enjoy the freedom to head for the Black Hills and enjoy the peace and serenity our new home has to offer. It also provides us with memorable family gatherings with our grandchildren.
Custer State Park, LLC purchased this House in 2007
Why Custer State Park, LLC chose Custer
My husband and I decided to purchase the Custer home because it is bordered on three sides by Custer State Park and national forest. We enjoy hiking and now can explore thousands of acres of wilderness just a few steps from the front door. We also enjoy riding horses in the Black Hills. The pasture borders Custer State Park. We can enjoy hours of riding in the Park and never take the same trail.
What makes this House unique
When visiting our home, we hope it will be immediately evident the pride and joy we wish to share with our guests. We take suggestions from our guests very seriously and attempt to make our home as comfortable and convenient as possible. Our home borders Custer State Park, so guests enjoy visiting the park and all it has to offer. We are just minutes from the town of Custer, Crazy Horse Memorial, Mt. Rushmore, Sylvan Lake, Wind Cave National Park, and many other popular attractions. Although we are secluded, the roads are excellent.

Home away from home
House and property were just as explained in the online listing. Very comfortably slept eight. Comfortable home away from home living. Plenty of space to spread out and enjoy time together and apart. I would recommend this house to friends and family wanting to get together in a spectacular setting.
Thank you Beverly, it was a pleasure having you. Scott and Sherry
Absolutely the best house that we’ve rented through VRBO. Exceptionally clean. Had everything you would need. Great location. A lot of wildlife on the property. Hated to leave it!!
Thanks so much. It is our favorite place to go as well!! Scott and Sherry
Excellent family vacation
Our family ranged in age from 84 to 16. We had the best family vacation. So glad we rented the house instead of a hotel. We were able to spend great quality family time together whereas in hotel rooms we would have all went to separate rooms for the evening. The home is absolutely beautiful and the location was amazing! Thank you.
Everything was nice and clean. Home away from home. Wildlife all around us.
Based on previous reviews, we had high expectations for Big Horn Lodge, and we were not disappointed. The owner's directions made the home easy to find, and we were even able to check in a bit early.
The home was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed, including spices for cooking. The beds were comfortable and we all slept well each night after long days exploring.
The location is excellent with short, scenic drives to area attractions. We went to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse one day, ventured to Rapid City on another, and spent our remaining days exploring Custer State Park. I recommend the jeep tour. Our driver took us to areas the public can't access and we were able to see the wildlife more closely. We loved spending our days out and coming home to the beautiful home to sit on the deck, have dinner, and play one of the many board games provided. We also watched a movie from the collection of DVDs.
The town of Custer has many excellent eating establishments with reasonable prices and we did our grocery shopping at the grocery store there in town.
We loved exploring the area around the house, and the turkeys and deer were everywhere. We especially enjoyed watching the chipmunks run around the yard. We didn't get to use the fire pit, but I'm sure it provides an enjoyable experience as well.
Big Horn Lodge provided the setting for a vacation I will never forget. If you are looking for complete serenity within thirty minutes to bustling tourist attractions, this is your place. My son is already pushing to head back next summer.
Thank you so much for opening your home to us. I will recommend it with confidence to everyone I know.
We are so glad that you had a good time. Your kind words really do make it all worthwhile. Scott and Sherry
Beautiful and so relaxing!
We loved the quite, the deer and other animals. We even saw a coyote!
Very relaxing and close to many things we did.
It was well decorated and lots of space for our family to spread out.
All in all...wonderful!
