About this property

Direct waterfront Sunset Lake. ATTENTION: LAKE AT 3/4 LEVEL FOR SUMMER 2024.

This is a quiet, semi-secluded 3-bedroom home on a dead-end road. Queen bed in 2nd floor master bedroom, queen bed in 1st floor master bedroom. Double bed and bunk beds in 2nd floor 'kids' room.

Plus, a carpeted loft that overlooks the living room suitable for sleeping. There are also 2 couches (1 is a fold-down) and a day bed in the basement rec room (which includes a pool table).

We have kayaks, canoes, and a rowboat for renters. We are on crystal-clear Sunset Lake which is 5 minutes up in the mountains from Alton Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee. Flat screen TV with expanded basic cable service, and WiFi provided.

We are thirty minutes from Weirs Beach and Laconia (Bike Week) and about the same from Loudon (NASCAR).

We rent by the week in Summer (late June-early Sept) and by the week or weekend the rest of the time (mid April-mid November). We would also entertain a full-time Winter renter (mid Nov-mid Apr).
FOR SUMMER 2024 THE LAKE WILL BE ONLY AT 75% CAPACITY (dam replacement). REDUCED RATES AVAILABLE.

Absolute gem
We are so thankful to Glenn and his family for sharing their home. This is an amazing home in an amazing location. It's a quiet, dead end, which is great for kids and walking dogs on the road. Neighbors are a good distance away so you have plenty of your own space. Direct access to the lake with plenty of kayaks (and life vests) for everyone to enjoy. Lots of good shade so the house stayed cool the entire time. So much indoor space! We were vacationing with myself and my boyfriend, our two dogs, my brother, SIL and their two boys. We took the downstairs bedroom and bathroom and they took over the upstairs rooms and bathroom. We were able to enjoy meals inside and outside together, and watch movies in the living room comfortably. There are tons of games to play as well as the pool table. I bothered Glenn a couple of times, each with a quick response, and very helpful. We do hope to be able to get back there in the future and enjoy everything it has to offer once again!

Lovely home, great location, some concerns
This VRBO rental is in a terrific location, right on Sunset Lake near the southern tip of Lake Winnipesaukee, well-equipped and with a fire pit, hammock, various water craft and a big house with two queen bedrooms and the cathedral main room facing the lake. There are also decks on these, a screened room facing the lake, and another back bedroom upstairs. In the basement is an entertainment area with tv, dvds, books, games, pool table and two additional twin beds. The rental has a lot to offer. The drawbacks for us were things we overlooked when booking. There is no cleaning fee and we learned that renters are expected to clean before departing. The other is that linens are available but must be laundered and returned to linen closets before leaving. For us these were onerous since we live in VA and it’s a long drive. We did meet Carrie and Glenn, owners who are delightful and very welcoming. And we complied with the cleaning, and the linen requirements by bringing our own, but the house needs a good deep cleaning.

Peaceful & beautiful
What a MAGICAL spot on the earth to vacation. The lake was pristine for swimming and fishing. The house & cabin was perfect with the side of the house facing the lake all made of windows so you felt both peaceful and excited about the natural beauty all around you. Everything was simple and wonderful. I cannot wait to return. I feel like my soul discovered a secret magical place that I will yearn to return to! I loved reading the family history in the books. Thank you so kindly for sharing your home. One of the best vacations we have ever been on. Im so glad I found "area 51" ! Fabulous

About the host

Our home was built in 1988. We co-own with family and there are eight kids between us (with some grandkids, as well now). There is plenty of room for all and lots of fun, especially in Summer.

Why they chose this property

We love our secluded 1.5 acre+ lot with over 200' of waterfront privacy. At night, the loons are heard quite clearly.

What makes this property unique

Quiet lake, even in summer. NOT a lot of boat traffic on Sunset Lake. There is NO public boat-launch area on the lake, and there is NO launching of powerboats from the 19 properties in our neighborhood.
