Great location; not great air quality
Staying on Ile de Saint Louis was wonderful - great location (see photos). It's a quiet residential area with all the stores one needs and dozens of great restaurants. The apartment is right on the Seine and that is lovely. There are outdoor restaurants across the river that have free jazz on the weekend. All of that is wonderful. The apartment itself has a modest size seating and bedroom area; a small but very efficient kitchen with washer and dryer and a small but very functional bathroom. The size worked well for our almost week long stay. The apartment is on the first floor and for safety and privacy reasons, the outside shutters stay closed. This means that, without all the lights on, the apartment is a dark as night during the day. It also means there is very little fresh air and as a result the apartment smells musty. A dehumidifier might help. As it was, because I have asthma, I had trouble breathing in the apartment. I suggest that people considering this apartment weigh location against light and fresh air.
The suite was great. Modern conveniences with old world charm. Bed was comfortable. The location was awesome. Around the corner from a bakery and world famous ice cream. Across the bridge was the metro station. Close to a lot of attractions, food, metro, and The Seine river.
The Very Center of Paris!
Quiet, ground floor, well equipped, lots of ambiance. I love history and the romance of antiques and I loved this place! However, my partner in love prefers modern and spartan. So for her, it was only great location, convenient, and “pretty nice”.
Classic Parisian apartment on Ile Saint Louis
This apartment is as it appears in the photos. The pros are the location, space and general comfort. It is extremely quiet with no street noise. The bed is large and comfortable and the bathroom shower and sink work well. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a clothes washer and dryer. The.main negative is that the apartment is dark with only a couple of windows opening to an entry courtyard. It is on the ground floor with no views. On balance it was very nice and we would recommend it.
Old World Charm
This apartment has old world charm, is located in the heart of where Paris began, centrally located to the historic sites, easy access to the Metro (which is super easy to use), and in it's own little charming neighborhood. The apartment is just right for one or two, perfectly appointed, and so Parisian. I loved having a small kitchen, along with a washer and dryer so that I didn't have to pack as many clothes when traveling.
I can't wait to come back again for another week at this beautiful location. I loved walking out the front door of the apartment complex each morning and seeing the Seine River - it made me start each day with a smile.
Special thanks to the owner, Magalie, Julia, Lena, and staff for making this a perfect vacation.
Lovely place on the Isle St Louis
I choose to stay on the Isle St Louis for a week each Spring. This was by far the most authentic place I have stayed. For me the one drawback was that I was told I couldn’t open the blinds so there was no natural light which was a challenge for me. The place I moved to after this was very full of light which I feel is a great joy of Paris.... I can highly recommend this place except for the one issue. Enjoy your stay!
