About Daphne Libby
Sunny Bank Farm is owned by a group of friends who are now dispersed throughout England. We are all passionate about the Lake District and particularly the Sunny Bank area and Coniston Water. We regularly come and stay at Sunny Bank ourselves and so we put a lot of thought and effort into equipping it with everything you could possibly need and ensuring that it is in excellent condition for our guests.

Lovely home well provided for large parties such as ours (isnt always the case)...huge dining table, plenty of seating in the lounge, comfy beds and a great, if a little draughty in autumn/winter, games room in good order. Our 'kids' (in their 20s and 30s) LOVED it and had wiff-waff competitions to their hearts delight. We also played various board games and perused the books.
Sadly we didnt have great weather so couldnt explore the immediate area myself but I'm informed by the dog walker that it was beautiful. Certainly the immediate area provided plenty of choice for food and drink (although the Church House Inn was closed for the winter which was to the Wilson's Arms favour i would've thought)
Reasonable journey time to the nearby lake towns where we enjoyed some browsing and a bevy or two.
All in all, whilst not an inexpensive accommodation, its left us wanting to go back, maybe in springtime, and see it all in some sunshine 😊
Thank you so much for your great review, and so glad you had a thoroughly wonderful time. I do hope you'll come back in the spring or summer to enjoy the garden and surroundings.
Feels like you are visiting family
Sunnybank Farm is a well cared for family home. Everything works really well and it feels like you are visiting a favourite aunt. We loved walking down to the lake for a swim or to go out in one of the boats and on sunny days the garden was a real treat. Thank you so much for sharing your house.
Well positioned and presented property. Lovely location in the Lakes
Wonderful cottage in a superb location
We were a three generation group and everyone had a great time.
The cottage was well equipped with two sitting rooms and plenty of crockery and cutlery. It was comfortable and practical giving a relaxed holiday.
The play Barn was a great asset and the canoe and rowing boat, the icing on the cake.
Having lakeside access and being able to get across to the Swallows and Amazon island was great fun.
We would highly recommend this cottage without hesitation.
I'm so glad you had such a good time - hope you will be back soon!
Perfect Lakeland retreat for the whole family

A lovely family treat

Home from Home
We have stayed at Sunny Bank Farm for many years now and it is our favourite holiday cottage in the Lakes. We are a party of 4 couples and go to the lakes for the Coniston run in March. The house is in the ideal location - for those of us who don't run - as we can watch the runners go past the house and cheer them on, then walk along the lake to Coniston to join them at the finishing line. The house has everything you need to relax and enjoy your stay - the kitchen is well kitted out, the bedrooms have been altered and additional bathrooms have been added. We enjoy the walks down to the lake shore and the boys enjoy a game of footy in the fields. Perfect for everyone.
Sunny Bank Farm is 4 miles from Coniston, a small but busy typical Lakeland town, and just three-quarters of a mile from Torver, where there is an excellent pub. Popular tourist centres such as Ambleside, Grasmere and Hawkshead are about half an hour away by car. The grounds (16 acres) are bordered by Torver Common and the Cumbria Way to the north and grazed farmland to the south; across the road is Torver Beck and more farmland, and to the east a long stretch of lakeshore onto Coniston Water. Sunny Bank Farm is an ideal location for mountain walking, boating, swimming, sailing and other water-based activities.
