About David Simmonds
I first moved to San Diego to go to San Diego State University and landed in Mission Beach, thinking 'why would I ever want to leave here'. My wife and I lived in the house for many years and we will always keep it as it is instead of building condos on the property. We will return to the house at some point, but for now we enjoy having others enjoy the beach life.
David Simmonds purchased this House in 1990
Why David Simmonds chose Mission Beach
One thing that attracted me to buy this house is its location so close to the beach and boardwalk. And it is a single family home with no attached homes, on its own lot. We also loved the historic value in an era when so many others are building new condos.
What makes this House unique
Having a single-family house on its own lot is a huge benefit. There are no common walls and you aren't sharing the yard with anyone. The proximity to the boardwalk and sand is a big plus, too, for a fraction of the price of the oceanfront properties which have very little privacy.

Great house for the family
We brought our granddaughter for the first time to the beach and it was so close and easy. We could see the fireworks from sea world and it had everything we needed to cook etc...plenty of towels and beach toys. We will stay again for sure.
Location is everything!
This is exactly what I wanted, a path to the beach, no cars, no traffic and a patio that sees the sand and ocean! PERFECT!
Thanks, guys! I hope you can return
This property sleeps 6 comfortably. Maintenance is required on most doors. Back gate and garage door do not lock. No refrigeration, but fans make it comfortable at night when sleeping. House needs a good cleaning. We enjoyed our stay and appreciated flexibility to stay 3 nights.
Great location, cute bungalow, needs deep cleaning.
Perfect location on beach for swimmers, quick walk to Belmont Park and shops. We had to wash all sheets, comforters, towels, bath mats and dishes before use. After that, we were comfortable. Bring your own chairs and towels as there are not enough and what is provided is is bad condition or dont recline. In a nutshell, this place is great for people on a budget, you just need to pack your own beach and cleaning supplies.
We’ve stayed here a couple times now. Love the house & location. Hope to be back again.
Mission beach house
Family had a blast, steps away from the beach and close to Belmont Park. House is older so you need to have realistic expectations.
5 minutes to Sea World, ten minutes to San Diego Zoo, ten minutes Downtown Gaslamp Quarter, 10 minutes to La Jolla, 5 minutes to many bars and restaurants.
