About David Simmonds
I first moved to San Diego to go to San Diego State University and landed in Mission Beach, thinking 'why would I ever want to leave here'. My wife and I lived in the house for many years and we will always keep it as it is instead of building condos on the property. We will return to the house at some point, but for now we enjoy having others enjoy the beach life.
David Simmonds purchased this House in 1990
Why David Simmonds chose Mission Beach
One thing that attracted me to buy this house is its location so close to the beach and boardwalk. And it is a single family home with no attached homes, on its own lot. We also loved the historic value in an era when so many others are building new condos.
What makes this House unique
Having a single-family house on its own lot is a huge benefit. There are no common walls and you aren't sharing the yard with anyone. The proximity to the boardwalk and sand is a big plus, too, for a fraction of the price of the oceanfront properties which have very little privacy.

This was a cozy and comfortable place to stay. We had everything we needed for cooking and eating in. Dave was available by phone for all our needs. We would definitely stay here again.
Cute little beach house
This is a cute little old school beach house. It's not big, but it's nice, and there's a ton of sand toys and other beach related stuff available. The beach is maybe a minute walk away until you hit actual sand.
We've stayed here a bunch of times when one family member is in the area for work and it's pretty much the ideal location to be able to tag along with the kids. In addition to the beach Belmont Park is a couple of blocks over and they have some good rides. There's quite a few decent places to eat in the area. And there's pretty decent freeway access if you want to go anywhere else.
Just what we were needing!
A great little vacation house on the beach! there were a few maintenance issues during the stay but the homeowner was very quick to respond and I have no complaints.
Perfect for our family of 5
Everything was as expected. Beds were comfortable, check in and out were easy. Two TV’s were handy, and we thoroughly enjoyed browsing through the extensive collection of books! Would be happy to come back again.
Great Little House
Tons of character and charm... Good Value
Thanks, Patrick. I hope you can return some day!
Quaint beach cottage
This is a very quaint cottage. Not modern at all but that is part of its charms. It’s location to the beach is great. There are only the basic amenities. But it served our needs. As long as you have only a small group this will be a great stay.
