Great Place for Reunions
We had a reunion of engineers here and it was so perfect. Everyone had their own bed and the property has really nice views. Also, everyone had something to do as there were many nooks to hang out and plenty of seating. Our hosts, Tom and Alicia, were very communicative and we're available immediately if we had any questions as well. Will definitely stay here again if we are back in the area!
Nice to here you and your friends enjoyed your stay! Yes, it's nice that the Round House can sleep so many (10) on separate beds, when you have a group of guys getting together. We'd love to have you back and offer all returning guests a discount. Thank you again for your business.
Multi-generational Family Reunion at the Round House!
Eleven of us from three different states enjoyed our time immensely creating memories for a life-time at The Round House. This is the first time that we've all (minus 2 who had to work) been able to be together since 2015.
The setting is serene: we saw deer, moose, and bear in the 5 days were there; the house is spacious enough to spread out into different areas so the younger children can run and squeal to their hearts content. <3 They enjoyed the 'fort' (a platform in the trees) and having pine-cone wars. All of us enjoyed the large family dining table (a book-ended live-edge tree) that could seat us all (two on one end).
Out of fairness to the future vacationers, the kitchen sink does not appear clean (it must be stained) and I would hope the owners, Alicia & Tom, would replace that soon. It is apparent they continue to do maintenance to their property. The brand new kitchen appliances (large fridge, dishwasher and gas oven/stove) were fabulous. To increase family time we decided to cook dinners *in* and each family took a night. Just remember to adjust your recipes to 8,000+ ft because the super fancy oven doesn't do *that* adjustment for you. ;-)
There is no A/C (which is probably in the description, but I missed it). I understand why since there are not that many hot days and the cool nights do help out. We had a couple of 'close' nights and ended up buying a fan for our disabled son's room to pull the cool air in.
All generations LOVED the ping pong table and the humming birds! We saw 5 simultaneously...something you won't see in the Winter. Several of us hopped into the hot tub a few nights. There is a nice pair of new laundry appliances which we used. And probably the most beloved part of the vacation was time spent with family and *no* TV. It never crossed our minds to turn either of the big screen TVs on. It was a GREAT vacation at The Round House! Thanks, Tom & Alicia for sharing your home and your recommendations for restaurants and fun things to do. They were spot on!
The Vandervorts
Thank you for the sweet, detailed review. Lucky you to see a moose, deer, and bear on your stay - we've never seen all 3 in one trip. Nice to hear the kids enjoyed "the fort" and that the dining table could sit all of you! Yes, that darn kitchen sink is stained, not a good choice for us to pick an off white one. Sorry you had to purchase a fan, I'd like to note to future guests that 3 of the bedrooms have ceiling fans. Lastly, I absolutely loved your comment about the most beloved part was time spent with family and "no" TV in great room. We've had guests not chose our home because of not having a TV in the great room, but we also find that this is one of the best parts of our home (a bit forced to converse and play games). There are however, TVs in den and master. Thank you again for choosing our home.
Great house and layout
The house was great and when we had any questions or concerns the owners were very fast to respond. Great for our big family and wonderful layout
Perfect house for our large family
The Roundhouse was absolutely perfect for our large family - 8 adults and 7 small children. The house was immaculately clean, and the kitchen was very well supplied. Loved the 14 cup coffeemaker! Plenty of pillows, blankets, towels, sheets! And the beds were super comfortable. We shopped for groceries at the Safeway in Fraser - about 10 minutes drive from the house. Loved the central location for our excursions to Winter Park, Georgetown, Granby & Grand Lake. We even managed a trip to the top of Trail Ridge Road in RMNP. Tom & Alicia were so easy to communicate with - even checking in with us to make sure everything was okay. And the surroundings are just beautiful! I would definitely recommend this property for a large group. Nothing I can even think of to suggest to make it better! Thanks Tom & Alicia!!!
So glad you and your family enjoyed our mountain home. Thank you for the wonderful review.
Love the Round House
The Round House was perfect for our family gathering. We were attending a wedding celebration at nearby Devils Thumb Resort. The house has the room we needed for sleeping and for gathering. With 2 large separate gathering spaces there was room for kids to play and adults to visit. Kitchen is very large and accommodates several cooks. We saw lots of birds and even moose from the expanse of windows. Certainly a place we will visit again.
Thank you for nice review. We love when guests enjoy our home and you had a special treat: seeing the moose eat our newly planted aspens!
Great for big family
We had a lovely time at the round house. There was plenty of space for the adults and the kids. We really liked that there wasn't a TV on the main floor in the living room/kitchen/dining area. We saw some moose tracks and scat outside the bedroom window and went on a track hunt for more into the meadow.
Map
Fraser Tubing Hill is a blast after a day of skiing. Hiking or driving in Rocky Mountain National Park (south entrance is less crowded) is a must in the summer with ice cream and shopping in Grand Lake afterwards. Relax in Sulphur Hot Springs, or kids can enjoy swimming and rock climbing wall at the Rec Center only 3.8 miles away, or bowling and wood fired pizza at the new 'Foundry' while adults take in a movie. There are so many great things to do which are close by: Snowshoeing, Cross Country skiing, Mountain biking, Relaxing, Reading, lots of Fun with Friends and Family!
