About Hank Drayton
Retired Navy Captain Hank Drayton, and his son and daughter in law Rick and Debra share ownership. Rick and Debra, who live a mile away in Princeville keep the place beautiful, and Hank and his wife Gloria keep it full. Hank and Gloria live half time in San Diego, CA, and half in Kailua, Oahu.
Hank Drayton purchased this House in 1989
Why Hank Drayton chose Princeville
After I retired from the Navy, I worked for Rockwell International in Orange County, CA. One day I was stuck on the freeway in the smog, thinking to myself 'Why am I here in the smog, doing about ten miles an hour, when my son lives in Paradise (Princeville, Kauai)?' A week later, I called my son, Rick Drayton, and proposed that we get together, buy a lot in Princeville on the golf course, and build a Three Master Bedroom Vacation Rental. I had heard a Real Estate Agent there say 'I sure wish I had a three or four master bedroom house to rent!' So we did! And over the last 25 years we have enjoyed making about 650 sets of guests very happy that we did.
What makes this House unique
Snorkeling, basking on the beach, gazing at the amazing scenery of the North Shore of Kauai. Sitting on the front deck watching the sun set behind Bali Hai.

Everything suited our needs and more
Kitchen well equipped and so easy with small appliances available like hot pot, rice cooker, slow cooker etc Enjoyed our stay very much
Was exactly as advertised
It is a perfect spot for families to stay. The bedrooms are down stairs, living area is up. There is a 1/2 bath upstairs as well. Every room has a view. Either the mountains out the front or golf course, Ocean from the back. The entire area is well maintained and the neighborhood is very quiet.
Everything worked well and the grill had 2 extra propane tanks... just in case. The swimming pool takes about 3 minutes to walk to, or you can drive around the corner and park in the lot.. Shopping is close by. We were making a list of things we needed, and then opened a closet and found paper towels, toilet paper, soap & even laundry detergent. There are plenty of towels and bed sheets. We were there for almost 2 weeks so changing the sheets was a great plus. The beaches and many trail heads are just minutes away. If you don't play golf take their golf cart tour anyway. It was totally amazing. The course fits in right along the ocean the island mountains make a beautiful back drop. Having a great place to stay makes the trip.
Great space, friendly owners, tons of beach gear for everyone to have a great time!
We absolutely loved Hale Kipa! We would gladly stay here again!
This house was very comfortable, well equipped with whatever we needed, including lots of water toys and equipment that is a pain to bring with you. We loved watching the golfers go by and took the golf course tour one evening. The set up was perfect for our group. Everything was clean and everyone we dealt with was helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again!
Great house on the course our go to each year at Princeville
Comfortable and inviting home on the course. Great location and has everything you need.
A perfect home in paradise
We've rented homes throughout the Hawaiian islands since 2006, staying in Princeville (our favorite spot to stay in all of Hawaii) several times. Hale Kipa, the "House of Hospitality" truly lives up to its name and is the best of the best. Thanks!
A family vacation was planned to celebrate out 36th wedding anniversary, 2 daughters 1 year anniversaries, and and our 3rd daughter was married on the beach at Hanalei Bay during our stay! The home provided the perfect place to be for our celebrations.
Area: The Princeville Resort, on the beautiful North Coast of Kauai, is renowned for its golf, luaus, and spirit of Aloha, The resort overlooks Hanalei Bay, and was the setting for the filming of 'South Pacific', Bali Hai is across the bay
