Great place for family groups, in peaceful countryside. Warm and well equipped.
We needed downstairs bedroom and bathroom for older members of the family so this suited us. Walk-in shower was popular. Big living /sitting room gave us all room to sit and watch a film together. Dining table seated all 9 of us!
It was useful to have a utility room with backdoor so we could dry the dog after our beach walks.
Views were terrific, and stars at night were a feature!
Local shops in Freshwater had great fish and the butcher's sausages were tasty. Our hosts left us a welcome pack of local food thanks for that!
Eastern Lee, with new walk in shower downstairs, works well for guests who dont want to climb stairs. With 3 bathrooms/showers it offers flexibility and works well for groups.
Not everyone notices our wonderful dark skies with views of the stars - good for would be astronomers.
The West Wight has an excellent range of independent shops selling locally produced food, which we're pleased to put in our welcome pack. Or there are plenty of restaurants for those who dont want to cook.
Eastern Lee is a good base for anyone wanting peaceful surroundings, near to beaches and Yarmouth harbour.
Fantastic family home
We had an amazing family holiday at Eastern Lee to celebrate my partners 40th birthday. There were 6 adults and 3 children and the property was the perfect size. The views were amazing, the property was clean and tidy and the kitchen had all we needed. Jill and Steve were very friendly and helpful and not at all intrusive. Would definately recommend to anyone looking for a holiday let on the IOW.
Thanks Michelle and family!
We're so pleased that Eastern Lee provided a spacious base for this familiy celebration. Our aim is to welcome people to a well equipped relaxing home so they can relax and enjoy the peace of the West Wight.
Our new downstairs walk-in shower is proving popular for children and anyone with mobility problems.
Excellent place. Will surely visit again
Very beautiful place! The countryside views were breath taking!
Both girls ( 5,3 years old) enjoyed the pink bedroom. The kitchen was well equipped.
Jill and Steve were very helpful. We arrived earlier than excepted they were happy to give us the keys.
Will surely visit again.
Great location - lovely house.
We stayed in this lovely house for a week in May this year. The house is set in a beautiful quiet location, with wonderful views at the rear of the house to the Downs in the distance. When we stayed in mid May the fields behind the house were just a carpet of vibrant yellow, which made the view all the more dramatic. The house has a large south facing patio with these views.
The house is very comfortable and well laid out, lots of space for a large group, family or two couples as we were. Two of the bedrooms and one bathroom are downstairs so this enabled both couples to have their own privacy which worked very well. One of the upstairs bedrooms even has its own bath tub positioned in the bedroom so that you can enjoy the view!
The property is well situated for visitors who enjoy the countryside and all its beauty in the West Wight. Great place to stay for walkers, and is 2 mins walk from a bus stop for those who like to use the very good bus system on the Island. It is about 10 mins drive away from Yarmouth and its very attractive harbour.
I would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone who wants to enjoy a very comfortable stay in an attractive rural location.
A Christmas Holiday Review
We've just spent a very happy Christmas week at this property. We were a family of 9 including three teenagers and grandparents in their mid -eighties. The space worked brilliantly with roomy bedrooms and a large open-plan living area. We loved the location- we're great walkers so to be able to stride out straight from the house was a real bonus. There are great trails with fabulous views on the doorstep so it's definitely worth investing in a OS map.
We found the owners very helpful and really appreciated the beautiful Xmas tree they arranged for us .
There are great coastal paths (or drives),only a short drive away and the Needles , also not far are spectacular .
Will be back again!
A fabulous house for a weekend away, an ideal location to just get away from everything!
Communication with owners has been spot on, they quickly responded to my enquiries and emails.
Will defiantly be looking to book again next year,
Thank you for a lovely stay
Yarmouth, a ferry port and yachting centre, is located on the western side of the Island at the mouth of the Yar estuary. The historic little town is guarded by Yarmouth Castle (English Heritage), built by Henry VIII in 1547 The harbour attracts international yachts and cruisers, and visitors who enjoy the lively range of shops, festivals and art exhibitions. The picturesque narrow streets and town square are lined by flower decked shops and pubs; restaurants range from Michelin star quality through family-friendly pubs to cafes with outside tables for celebrating fine weather late into the evening, many meals having an emphasis on local produce and freshly caught fish. Walks and rides start here, leading along the Yar estuary (excellent bird watching), to Downs, Tennyson Trail and beaches of the West Wight. Fishing, off road cycling and watersports may be arranged locally. Helpful Tourist Information base on the quay. Ferries (35 mins.) regularly from Lymington in the New Forest.
Other Activities: Isle of Wight Music Festival, Bestival, carnivals, yacht regattas
Golf: Freshwater Bay Golf Course is a 10 minute drive from the house, and offers some of the most spectaular views from its legth, across Freshwater Bay, the western tip of the Island and out into the Channel.
