Why Jack S Bender chose Port Wing
10 years ago I had a appointment in Bayfield that fell through to the next day. I had never been on the South Shore and had a day to look around. Cherie and I would visit the North Shore two to three times a year. We have not been north of Duluth for over 10 years as we fell in love with the sunsets, sandy beaches, and warmer water. Donna Hedin our very good friend is a partner with us on part of the property. Donna lives in Minneapolis and comes up to stay from time to time.
What makes this Cabin unique
We have always wanted to build a log cabin so somehow we ended up building 3 of them. We only rent out two cabins on 2 separate lots. The log cabin is authentic hand hued and very cute little house that folks are really enjoying. It has everything you need for a short stay.

The cabin provided a beautiful view of Lake Superior. The cabin was nicely furnished - we didn't need to bring a thing. It was a cozy way to spend a weekend when the weather didn't cooperate to be outside. :) Would rent again.
Beautiful and Relaxing
This is a great property right off of the south shore of Lake Superior about 1 hour from Duluth. It is quiet and relaxing; the perfect place to unwind, listen to the waves crashing against the shore, and enjoy all that this area has to offer. We walked along the beach, hiked around Twin Falls Park just a couple miles down the road, and enjoyed the changing colors of all of the trees. It was very easy to get to and even though it is close to the road, you can’t hear the cars at all (we had windows closed most of the time – cold outside).
Everything was very well kept and relatively new. Bed was very comfortable. Temperature was easy to control with either wall heaters or gas fireplace. We only had two inconveniences and that was that the firewood was not covered and thus very wet (not able to start a fire) and there was no functioning wifi. The only reason we wanted wifi was to FaceTime with our 2 young children at home. I could tell there was a wifi signal nearby, but it was too weak for us to connect to. As far as watching a movie, we downloaded some content onto our laptop ahead of time and hooked up it up to the TV with an HDMI cable, this worked well. There was a Netflix app on the Dish box, but the signal was too week to actually play anything. Again, I call it an inconvenience because it’s not necessary to have, just nice to be able to stay connected if needed.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. The owner(s) have always had great communication and been very helpful.

What a cute and cozy cabin. We had a great time
Perfect little cabin!
Cute cabin on the water! Very clean & ready to go for us. The only thing I didn't like was having to climb down from the loft in the middle of the night for the bathroom! We enjoyed playing scrabble every night too! If you want really good pizza, take a drive into Bayfield to Manypenny Pizza Place!! Delicious!!
Even better than the listing and puictures on-line !
The description nd pictures don't tell just how beautiful and secluded this really is. We had campfires, overlooking lake Superior, every night. The most amazing sunsets and in a very private setting. Accessing the beach was fun for the whole family and searching through the driftwood was a unique experience. The cabin itself was just the size for our family of four. We stayed 4 days and never even turned on the tv, there was so much fun outside. LOVE LOVE LOVE
Wonderful cabin with lots of unexpected surprises! The native grasses and flowers and then the private beach, absolutely spectacular! Private and relaxing. Definitely will return.
