About Marie M. Hall
I was born in Texas then moved to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. During this time, my father, a Vietnam veteran, was serving in the Army’s Special Forces. I grew up in Buncombe County where the family home had been established in the late 1800s. I have lived in North Dakota, California, Idaho, Washington State and Australia. As a missionary nurse, I have traveled to Peru, Guatemala, Indonesia, and Australia. I have three border collies-PRINCESS Kenai, Shammy and Healy, Coxie-the rooster and his nine hens, and some minx cats that enjoy my family farm with me.
Marie M. Hall purchased this Cabin in 1985
Why Marie M. Hall chose Leicester
This is a family inheritance which I am privileged to own. I want you to share with me in this experience of beauty and solitude. No city lights, just God's heavenly stars. A bird watchers sanctuary and great hiking.

Had a wonderful time
This was a great place to get away from it all. Love the cupcakes. Very rustic just what we was looking for.
Cabin in the Woods
What a beautiful setting! Very quiet, secluded, and surrounded by trees (which were in full color during our visit!). Marie was a wonderful host and made our stay very warm and welcoming. No internet, so be prepared to "get away from it all"!
Great get away with the wife
Great time, nice place
Nice cozy feel if you like feeling tucked away in a cabin that brings you back to the old days with some modern amenities.
Beautiful place and an amazing historic cabin with all the modem amenities 😀
Such a wonderful place to get away from it all, soak in the sites (while soaking in the clawfoot tub on the porch), relax and just enjoy the beauty around you. Just far enough off the beaten path to feel like you've escaped the hussle but close enough in to be able to explore Asheville, the Smokey's, Brevard, etc for the day or to grab a meal/ hit a brew pub or two.
Marie was awesome- one of those folks you meet and instantly feel like you've known them forever. And her beautiful pups, Princess and Queen, are so darn cute!
The location of the cabin is superb. Half hour drive to Asheville and an easy day trip to Smokey Mountains National Park. Marie has provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. Cabin is easily accessible without 4x4 and is tucked away in the woods for privacy. My wife and I enjoyed the lack of internet. Vacations are meant to be relaxing and unplugging has its virtues. Hummingbirds and butterflies are a bonus.
Star Haven features 45 acres of scenic hiking and is close to the largest house in the nation, The Biltmore Estate. Continuing west, you will find Maggie Valley, beautiful golf courses, theme parks, fly fishing, hiking, and the famous Ghost Town. The Blue Ridge Parkway has 469 miles of beautiful scenic views which is in Star Haven's back door.
