Great!
The landscaping and flowers were beautiful. We came down to relax after the previous few weeks stress of moving and a family funeral and it was wonderful just sitting on the veranda drinking coffee in the morning, listening to and watching the multi-colored birds flying around and smelling the gardinias. Of course one cannot have all of that vegetation and rain without some insects, but they were mostly at night. The house was somewhat limited for cooking equipment if you like to do gourmet cooking, but was very adequate for the cooking we did and we were able to buy local produce very reasonably. Listening to the steam running down the hill and the general welcoming atmosphere of Dirk and the house and its surrounds ... ahhh! Would we recommend Dirk's properties? Oh yes!! ... a rare and treasured experience!
Sanctuary Found
Very nice secluded location. If your looking for some peace and quiet this is the place.
Where only the birds wake you up
The description of the holiday home on VRBO we lived in five weeks fits exactly to the experienced reality - quiet & romantic. Also our three girls with ages between 16 and 2 years felt well from the very beginning of our stay in Paso Ancho. Surrounded only by the jungle and the wild waters of the Rio Chiriqui Vejo and far away from any human noise we did find perfect conditions to relax in a spacious and nice furnished house. The owner and host is a very attentive man who offers quick support whenever it could be necessary.
Beautiful retreat
This is a quiet beautiful place with a wonderful host. The location is amazing and we spent hours sitting on the patio taking in the beauty of the area. Thank you Dirk for making our stay memorable.
Paradise
This was our first trip to Panama and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. We spent the month of February in the hawk house and absolutely loved it. The view is gorgeous! All you hear is the rushing water from the river below, the rustling of leaves and the birds chirping! It's a place to enjoy nature and be away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
We did lots of hiking! The temperature during the day was in the mid to high 70's so being outside was very pleasant. It cools down at night so make sure you get some warm clothes with you. Layering works great. I missed my throw blanket!
Dirk was a pleasure to meet and visit with. He was very responsive and more than happy to answer any questions we had.
If you want to meet some expats, head to Deep Forest Taberna up the road. They gather there every Saturday afternoon for singing, eating and visiting. And breakfast every Friday at Manas restaurant.
Also keep in mind, there are no street signs. It could be tricky finding the place, or any place for that matter. Thank God for google maps. We followed the voice prompts to get everywhere we needed to go.
And just few days before we left, we sighted the white faced monkeys swinging in the trees in the mountain across. That was very exciting!!
We highly recommend Las Plumas and we will for sure plan another trip there.
Quiet and Peaceful
We had a wonderful 3 month stay at Las Plumas. We stayed in Quetzal and everything was clean and in good condition. We were very comfortable there and our guests also enjoyed it! My favorite thing was sitting on the patio and enjoying the beautiful property: flower, trees, clouds and LOTS of birds! It is very private and secure. We did have a few issues with hot water and wi-fi but Dirk fixed everything in a timely manner. My only complaint would be the road leading up to the property. It is very rough (rocks, holes...) but that is out of his control. We eventually rented a small SUV that had more ground clearance and that worked fine. Dirk helped us with restaurant suggestions and sights in the area. We would definitely return!!!
