Looked great on website photos- not so much in person
When we booked the property we informed the agent that we were looking for a 2 bedroom flat as we were hoping my brother in law and his wife would be able to join us. As far as I understood, we were told that was fine, as we'd booked the whole apartment. As luck would have it, only my brother in law could make it so there would be three of us? When we got to the apartment one of the bedrooms was locked and a demand for further cash was made. So what had we paid for? Moving back a bit let me say the outside of the building was pretty gnarly - almost covered in graffiti. This didn't show on any of the promo pix. Likewise the entrance hall, dirty and covered in ads for pizza and other local take away. Okay, now inside. While none of the website photos were untrue, they certainly did their best to give the impression this was a more upscale place than it turned out to be. I feel that we were charged about a third more than the space was reasonably worth - and th kik s was before the extra cash for my brother in law's stay.

Perfect apartment in a great location
A wonderful apartment in a great local neighborhood out of the touristy part of the city. Amazing local restaurants with the best Greek and fresh seafood meals. The apartment was quiet, very clean and well furnished. The food basket was a wonderful touch. We would stay again.

About the host

I work as journalist and art dealer. I have few more passions: the opera, sailing and everything concerning Greece from 3000 BC until today. That’s the reason why I decided to have my own base in Athens. I love my beautiful apartment and since I have to travel a lot, I decided that the apartment should be lived by beautiful people when I’m away. My precious friend, Rania, the best host ever met, will be here to assist you throughout the booking process, the check in and during your stay. Enjoy this great venue into the Acropolis shadow.

What makes this property unique

In the shadow of the Acropolis, the neighborhood of Koukaki, with its unevenly paved sidewalks lined with bitter orange trees, has an undeniably urban village feel. It is the lesser-known sister of Makriyianni, which, boasting the elegant Acropolis Museum on the sweeping cobbled esplanade of Di- onysiou Areopagitou, has relegated Koukaki to the status of just another residential district.

Yet this unassuming neighborhood has begun to capture the attention of Athenians and visitors alike. It is perhaps best known for its staggering popularity as an Airbnb destination, ranking in the top five most interesting neighborhoods in the world to stay.
The neighborhood of Koukaki is south of the Acropolis and Mount Filopapou. Its bordered by Syngrou Avenue to the south and the beautiful pedestrian avenue of Dionissiou Areopagitou to the north and are therefore within easy walking dis- tance of just about anywhere in Athens that you would want to be. The general area of Koukaki borders from the north with Makrygianni neighbourhood and the historical district of Plaka (the historical neighbourhood of Athens).
